CSIR NET 2023 Notification has been released for December 2023 cycle. The candidates can apply from 1st November to 30th November 2023. The NTA conducts the CSIR NET exam is conducted to shortlist eligible candidates for Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and Lectureship/Assistant Professor posts in various Indian Universities and Colleges. CSIR NET (National Eligibility Test) is a national-level examination conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to select eligible candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship positions. The exam is conducted twice a year in the months of June and December. The exam is meant for candidates who wish to pursue research in various fields of Science, including Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Earth Sciences.
The exam is conducted in online mode and consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A is a common aptitude test that contains questions related to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis, and Research Aptitude. Part B is subject-specific and consists of questions related to the chosen subject. The exam is of three hours duration, and there is negative marking for wrong answers.

CSIR NET is a national-level entrance exam that is much sought after by thousands of candidates across the country The bi-annual examinations notification is often released three to five months before the exams. Candidates preparing for the next CSIR NET 2023 Exam should be familiar with the exam's selection process. The exam is required for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship accreditation (LS). If you qualify for JRF, you will be eligible for a research fellowship as well as assistant professorships in Indian colleges and universities; if you only qualify for LS (Lectureship), you will be eligible to apply for teaching positions, such as assistant professorships in Indian colleges and universities. The steps of the CSIR-UGC NET 2023 selection procedure are as follows:
The first stage of the selection process is submitting an online application. Interested candidates can fill the application form on the official website of CSIR. They must provide their personal details, educational qualifications, and other relevant information. Candidates are advised to fill the application form carefully and upload all the required documents, including a passport-size photograph and signature.
After the submission of the application form, candidates can download the admit card from the official website. The admit card contains important information such as exam date, time, and venue. Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid ID proof to the exam center.

The result is announced on the official website. The result contains the names and roll numbers of the qualified candidates. Candidates who qualify the exam are eligible for the next stage of the selection process.
CSIR releases the cut-off for each subject category-wise. Candidates who score equal to or more than the cut-off marks are considered qualified for JRF or Lectureship.
After the announcement of the cut off and results, candidates who qualify the exam are called for the Interview round. Their knowledge and suitability of skills related to JRF or Lectureship posts will be evaluated. They must bring all the original documents along with a set of photocopies for verification. If any candidate fails to produce the required documents, they will not be considered for JRF or Lectureship.
The final selection is made based on the candidate's performance in the exam, interview and document verification. Candidates who are selected for JRF are eligible for a stipend, and those who are selected for Lectureship can apply for teaching positions in various colleges and universities.

Only bona fide Indian citizens are eligible for these fellowships. However, there are two other eligibility criteria that you will have to fulfill before applying for the exam. You have to make sure that you meet the educational qualification and age limit to become eligible for this fellowship. According to CSIR NET eligibility criteria 2023, candidates must be a post-graduate or those who are pursuing post graduation and there is no upper age limit to apply for CSIR NET.
Candidates applying for CSIR NET December 2023 exam must fulfill upper age limit based on the JRF or Lectureship post as given below.
Candidates must have secured M.Sc or equivalent degree in B.Tech/B.E/B.Pharma/MBBS/BS (four years)/Integrated BS-MS/MSc with a minimum of 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC (50% for SC/ST, Third gender and PwD).
