The selection procedure for the Indian Navy SSR Agniveer is a three-tier process consisting of the following stages:
All applicants who have applied for the position of SSR Agniveer will be required to take the INET. The INET will be objective in nature and will be held in English and Hindi. The question paper will be divided into four sections: English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge. The question paper will be of 10+2 difficulty. The examination will be one hour in length.

Candidates who pass the INET will be considered for the written test, PFT and initial medical test. The written test will be given in both English and Hindi. The question paper will be objective in nature and will be based on the syllabus available on the Indian Navy's official website. The PFT will include a 1.6-kilometre run, squats, push-ups and bent-knee sit-ups. The initial medical will be performed to determine that the candidate is physically and mentally fit to serve in the Indian Navy.
Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection. The Physical Fitness Test has the following requirements:

Candidates who pass the written exam, PFT and first medical test will be invited to the final recruiting medical exam. The final recruiting medical exam will be held at INS Chilka. Candidates who are medically fit will be recruited as SSR Agniveers for the Indian Navy.
Candidates must be physically and psychologically fit to fulfil their jobs. An applicant's minimum acceptable height should be 157 cm, with a minimum chest expansion of 5 cm. Candidates are also encouraged to get tartar removed from their teeth and their ears cleansed for wax before taking the medical examination. The INS Chilka will host the Enrolment Medical Examination.
