Kobo Forma
The Kobo Forma is waterproofed from the inside-o0ut, with special HZO Protection, and weighs less than seven ounces. Although the generously-sized 8-inch screen feels sturdy, it’s also incredibly lightweight – and sports beautiful HD Mobius Carta e-ink for an elegantly pleasing reader experience.
Choose between landscape or portrait mode for viewing format, and take advantage of ambidextrous page-turn buttons that Kobo introduced with the Forma for left and right-hand operation. The Forma also features ComfortLight PRO technology, for adjustable front lighting that ensures less eye strain. The lighting gradually reduces the kind of light that can make it harder to fall asleep, so reading before bedtime is possible without disturbance.
The Kobo Forma also integrates OverDrive, which lets users connect right into their local, participating libraries to browse titles and borrow or purchase e-books. An item that may be worth investing in for Kobo Forma owners is the Kobo SleepCover, which retails for about $50. That cover can be flipped around and positioned to facilitate hands-free reading, from virtually any angle.
Pros
- The Kobo Forma is fully waterproof.
- No advertising, no interruptions.
- The Forma includes lots of newer technological upgrades and enhancements that Kobo did not offer before introducing the Forma.
Cons
- Although it’s loaded with valuable features, the Kobo Forma is a higher-priced device that sells new for nearly $280.
